Winning Combination! 100+spf Radicool Skins & Effective Sunscreen

As reported today in the Ottawa Citizen,

"Over 1,000 people die from skin cancer every year in Canada. That's more than a couple a day," says Dr. Jason Rivers, a Vancouver dermatologist and former head of the Canadian Dermatology Association's National Sun Awareness Program.

More than 75,000 Canadians are expected to develop skin cancer this year, with the sun's radiation a major culprit. In the last 20 years, skin cancer rates have more than doubled. "We have a short summer season, so we tend to overdose on the sun," says Rivers.

That golden tan, warn the experts, is not a sign of health, but a signal that cells have been damaged, and defective cells have a nasty habit of turning into tumours.

Remember: Products don't always do everything we expect of them. In fact, the 2010 Sunscreen Guide from the Environmental Working Group recommends just eight per cent of the 500 sports and beach sunscreens it tested. The Washington-based environmental research organization included inadequate sun protection and the presence of potentially dangerous ingredients such as oxybenzene and retinyl palmitate among its beefs. The sunscreen industry has disputed the findings.
